College Football: Top 25 Run Down (19/11/2016)

What started off an apparent upcoming crazy week of college football saw the Houston Cougars end the #5 Louisville Cardinals hopes of a play-off berth. Lamar Jackson was shut down by the Cougars defense and Louisville’s defense couldn’t stop Houston’s offense that was rolling from the start.

The #1 Alabama faced Chattanooga, who saw success early by taking an 3-0 lead over the Crimson Tide till the 2nd quarter. Suddenly for Alabama, after their slow start got the ball rolling. Hurts threw for 3 TD’s to finish the game and the Crimson Tide walked away winning 31-3 and becoming 11-0.

#2 Ohio State had a scare from an Michigan State University team that hasn’t lived up to expectations this season. It was a 1 point game after a MSU’s LJ Scott scored, followed by an attempted 2 point conversion, but they failed to convert. Ohio State took over and ended up punting after two holding calls, giving Michigan State University a chance to take the game, but instead, Ohio State ended up intercepting a pass and thus winning.

For #4 Clemson, after a tough loss last week to Pittsburgh, travelled to face Wake Forest. Clemson stated off quick and strong, holding the lead all game long to win 35-13 clinching. This win consequently meant that the Tigers clenched the ACC Atlantic Division and sealing their spot in the ACC Title game.

Elsewhere, #3 Michigan beat Indiana 20-10, while #6 Washington kept their playoffs hopes alive with a 44-18 rout of Arizona State. #7 Wisconsin beat Purdue 49-20, #8 Penn State shut out Rutgers 39-0 , #9 Oklahoma beat #14 West Virginia 56-28, and #10 Colorado beat #22 Washington State 38-24 .

A lot of top 10 action this week kept the top 4 play-off hopes in tact for another week with #2 Ohio State set to face #3 Michigan next week in a game that’s sure to shake the playoffs.
